Chair of the Board and Director: Cary Summers
Cary Summers is uniquely qualified to oversee the development of the Galilean. Cary is President Emeritus of Museum of the Bible, Inc. Steve Green and Cary Summers spearheaded the creation of the Museum of the Bible’s organization and the planning, implementation, construction and the opening operations of the Washington D.C. museum plus the many other programs formed under Museum of the Bible. Cary is also the Founder and current CEO of The Nehemiah Group founded in 1998 which provides consulting services to for-profit organizations primarily in the tourism industry and not-for-profit organizations primarily in the world of the Bible. Cary was also President and CEO of Herschend Family Entertainment/Silver Dollar City Corporation, prior to Museum of the Bible. |
Over the last thirty years, he has served in an executive role with Abercrombie and Fitch (when it was a sporting goods company) and Bass Pro Shops. Cary founded Churchill Coffee Company, Adventure Legacy and Legends, and Treasures of the Holy Land. He is one of the founders and Emeritus CEO of Nazareth Village - Nazareth, Israel (first- century village sharing the teachings of and about Jesus in a very difficult part of the world), and currently serves on the board of directors of the Miracle of Nazareth International Foundation. The Knesset Christian Allies Caucus, together with the Ministry of Tourism of the State of Israel recognized Cary as the recipient of the Eleventh Annual “Night to Honor our Christian Allies” Tourism Award for his steadfast commitment to bringing tourism to the State of Israel and for his endless contribution to the Jewish State. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Discipleship Focus now part of Young Life. He is a graduate of the University of Texas with a Mathematics/Physics degree with analytical analysis focus on aerospace engineering.
Cary’s passion is studying and teaching God’s Word. He is recognized as an international speaker on biblical leadership principles from the book of Nehemiah. He has been a member of the Gideons for over 40 years. Cary has vast knowledge of Israel, both biblically and the modern state of Israel, having visited there over 130 times. Cary’s hobbies include long-distance bicycling, competitive Senior Olympic cycling, scuba diving, and cooking.
Cary and his wife Jacque reside near Springfield, Missouri, and have been married over 50 years. They have two children and four grandchildren, of whom they are extremely proud.

President and Director: Michael J. Mobley, Ph.D
Dr. Michael Mobley brings an eclectic background to this initial phase of the ministry with experience as a scientist, corporate executive, academic, entrepreneur, and church worker.
Dr. Mobley obtained an M.S. in Chemical Physics from Simon Fraser University, British Columbia, and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Arizona State University. While in industry, Dr. Mobley held senior executive positions with the Procter & Gamble Company, becoming familiar with international operations and traveling the globe from Russia to Japan and from Chile to Canada. Transitioning to academia, Dr. Mobley became Associate Director of the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University and was responsible for startup operations of this flagship research initiative. Responsibilities included the programming for a new 380,000 SF Biodesign Institute research facility that received the 2006 Laboratory of the Year Award.
Later joining Grand Canyon University, a private Christian university, Dr. Mobley served as Professor and Executive Director for the Office for Research and Innovation and was responsible for the startup and curriculum design of the new engineering school. He has also served as a community leader, chairing the Arizona BioIndustry Association for 2 years. As an entrepreneur, Mobley invented the StayKlear Multi-Care Hand Sanitizer Lotion launched in 2021 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Having made a Christian commitment in 1975, Mobley has served in churches in many capacities – as Bible study teacher, Bible camps director, youth program leader, deacon, missions committee head, worship leader, and occasional preacher. He has served as President of the Aslan Society, the faculty and staff Christian fellowship at Arizona State University. He augmented his Biblical training through courses at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and Phoenix Seminary. Mobley has been married to his wife, Kathryn, over 50 years and they’ve raised 3 children and have 7 grandchildren. The Mobleys currently reside in the Raleigh area of North Carolina.
Vice-President of Academic Affairs and Director: Edward A. Clavell, M.Div., D.Min.
Currently serving as Provost at Erskine College and Seminary, SC, Dr. Ed Clavell brings a diverse range of skills and experience to the Galilean. Dr. Clavell started his professional career as a metal craftsman and entrepreneur in New York City before moving to Arizona. He eventually transitioned into church ministry and academics. Dr. Clavell's ministry experiences include being a Children's Pastor and Executive Pastor. His academic career began as the Dean of Students at Phoenix Seminary that led to him establish and direct Escuela de Esperanza, a school for Spanish-speaking pastors seeking training in Academic English Writing Skills, TOEFL exam preparation, and Biblical Interpretation. He also served as an adjunct professor at Southwestern/Arizona Christian University and was appointed interim Chair of the Biblical Studies Dept. at ACU before being appointed as the Chair of the School of Business and later as the Dean of Academic Affairs.
As the Dean of Academic Affairs at ACU, Dr. Clavell: Secured a five-year grant for three million dollars from the Department of Education; Led a successful Higher Learning Commission re-accreditation process; Led the development of a revolutionary Bible curriculum; Introduced a system for advancing students through the English writing process; And supervised the implementation of the online program for Arizona Christian University. He is also a Peer-Reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and a member of the National Association of Church Business Administrators and Christian Business Faculty Association. In 2011, Dr. Clavell founded Pilgrimage Consulting, which helps pastors, business leaders, and organizational leaders develop strategies to reach their vision and grow God's Kingdom.
Dr. Clavell earned a BA from Baruch College School of Business, a M. Div., and a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership from Phoenix Seminary. He and his wife, Sandra, have been married for over 44 years and have two married sons and two grandchildren. Dr. Clavell enjoys baseball, music, cooking, reading, and being with his family.

Robert Jamison brings extensive experience as a financial advisor and accountant to the Galilean Institute.
He is a graduate of the W.P. Carey School of Business from Arizona State University with a degree in Accounting and Finance. He has consulted the past twenty five years for small firms, entrepreneurs and major corporations in the fields of healthcare, real estate development, oil and gas related businesses and other industries. He currently serves as Executive Director for the Black Oak Institute and the Asmus Institute. He also holds the position of C.F.O. for Merrick Tool, a patented tool development company.
Jamison has also served in the following capacities: Board Member of Arizona Council on Economic Education (2008 - Current), Board Member of Valley Classical Christian Academy (2008 - 2012), Glendale Community College - General Business Advisory Committee. He is a top-rated author and speaker who helps nonprofit leaders and boards elevate their performance by coaching them in the areas of strategy, governance, and board development. He has worked with and advised many top nonprofit organizations including Providence International, TMCI International, Bright Hope, Next Level Foundation, People’s Resource Center, The Barnabas Group, Christian Leadership Alliance, among many others.

Barry G. Ritchie, Ph.D.
Dr. Barry G. Ritchie is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Physics at Arizona State University and brings extensive academic and administrative insight to the Galilean. A member of the American Physical Society with more than 200 refereed publications, Professor Ritchie's research specialty is in experimental nuclear and particle physics, having served on technical advisory panels at Los Alamos National Laboratory and at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab). He also co-leads Conversations on Religion, Ethics, and Sciences, a project in the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, funded by the John Templeton Foundation. Professor Ritchie also teaches physics ranging from introductory freshman physics to graduate-level nuclear and particle physics, recognized twice by the Outstanding Teaching Award from the Department of Physics and also with the Dean's Quality Teaching Award from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He has held a number of key administrative roles at ASU, including Senior Advisor to the Provost (2015-2016), Vice Provost for Academic Personnel (2012-2015), director of the university-wide effort that reaffirmed the accreditation of ASU by the North Central Association Higher Learning Commission in 2013, Interim Vice President and Dean of the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at ASU (2006-2007), Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy (2000-2006), and Associate Chair from 1995-2000. He has been with ASU since 1984 and was promoted to professor of physics in 1996.

Kevin Youngblood brings experience as an educator and entrepreneur to the Galilean. Kevin and his wife, Margie, have been married for 34 years and have 3 grown children. Mr. Youngblood served our country in the military in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm where he earned 8 medals. He was Mayor of Carl, Georgia, and started and operated several businesses, the most recent being Odysseyware, Inc, an educational software company focused on reaching at-risk students. This company was founded in 2001 and sold to a Venture Capital Fund in 2016 for over $100 million. More recently, he has been investing in the Phoenix startup community by way of coaching or financial investment. He has served on the Advisory Board at the Arizona State University Center for Entrepreneurship, coaching MBA candidates as they pitch their ideas to investors. He has helped Grand Canyon University launch their Canyon Ventures program – an innovation center for startups in the valley – where he served as the Entrepreneur in Residence. Youngblood is also currently a student at Phoenix Seminary.
